SCR 101
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
In this combination workshop and seminar, we will explore the elements of storytelling. You will write short plays and screenplays utilizing a variety of prompts and in-class exercises. You will give feedback on your classmates’ work and receive feedback on your own. We will also spend time reading and discussing the work of established writers, using their work to better understand concepts such as plot, character, theme, and structure.
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES:
You will read and analyze plays and screenplays for their structure and methods of storytelling.
You will develop skills in revision and the giving and receiving of peer feedback.
You will write and revise your own short works for the stage and screen.
You will collaborate with your peers on theater and film projects, in addition to pursuing independent narrative projects.
